Arlington ISD

In August 2018, Director David Stevens retired from the Arlington (TX) Police Department (APD) to lead the Arlington ISD Security Department. He is a 25-year law enforcement veteran. During his last assignment at APD, he served as the Youth Services commander, overseeing the School Resource Officer and Crime Prevention Units. He also supervised and managed many other areas of the department: patrol, gang investigations, property & evidence, crime scene investigations, special investigations and covert operations. He was also dedicated to training during his career, serving as a field training officer, helping to lead APD’s effort for implementation of procedural justice practices and teaching multiple classes for APD’s police academy.

As a father of school aged children, an APD Coach 5-0 mentor and a longtime youth sports coach, he is dedicated to serving the youth in the community. He recognizes the importance of positive role models for our youth and understands the responsibility those in positions of authority have in order to help make a better tomorrow for our society.
